Veterans Certification

Veterans and their qualified dependents may be eligible for Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) education benefits authorized under specific chapters of Title 38 of the U.S. Code. Each chapter has specific eligibility requirements. Only the Department of Veterans Affairs can determine your eligibility for VA education benefits; the VCU Veterans Affairs Certifying Official cannot determine your eligibility for VA education benefits.

To receive VA educational benefits veterans must apply online using the Veterans On-line Application (VONAPP) or mail the paper application to the VA Regional Office, P.O. Box 4616, Buffalo, NY 14240-4616.

Students must also request VA certification each semester (including summer sessions) by using a VA Education Assistance form.  The form should be submitted to Veterans Certification in the Office of Records and Registration.  The office certifies enrollment to the VA for processing.  The VA determines eligibility for education assistance in all cases.  Students must verify their enrollment to the VA each month on the Department of Veterans Affairs W.A.V.E. website.
