Veterans Certification
Veterans and their qualified dependents may be eligible for Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) education benefits authorized under specific chapters of Title 38 of the U.S. Code. Each chapter has specific eligibility requirements. Only the Department of Veterans Affairs can determine your eligibility for VA education benefits; the VCU Veterans Affairs Certifying Official cannot determine your eligibility for VA education benefits.
Veterans must request VA certification each semester (including summer sessions). The request should be submitted to Veterans Certification in the Office of Records and Registration. The office certifies enrollment and forwards the requests to the regional VA Office in Buffalo, NY, for processing. The VA determines eligibility for education assistance in all cases. Students must also verify their enrollment to the VA each month on the Department of Veterans Affairs W.A.V.E. website.
Tutorial Assistance Program
Tutorial assistance is available if you are receiving VA educational assistance at the half-time or more rate and have a deficiency in a subject, in your major, making tutoring necessary.
