Degree Works is a computerized report that tracks the completion of a student’s declared degree by course and requirement. It outlines in concise form the university core, general education, major, collateral requirements and electives for a student’s degree program (and concentration or minor), and the way in which the student is completing those requirements. This report is not intended to replace contact with academic advisers. It will, however, provide accurate, up-to-date information to assist students and advisers in making wise academic choices. Students can access Degree Works by logging into eServices through the myVCU Portal and selecting Degree Works on the Student tab.

[Advisers Only] Degree Works observations may be reported through the Degree Works Issue Reporting REDCap survey. The link to the survey is available to advisers through eServices, beneath the "Degree Works" link.

Current Issues

Graduation GPA Calculator
The Graduation GPA Calculator within Degree Works calculates the GPA incorrectly. In order for it to work accurately, the number of institutional “Credits Remaining” and institutional “Credits Required” (which should be [number of institutional graded credits earned] + [number of institutional graded credits remaining, which includes in-progress credits]) should be entered. No credits for “passed” pass/fail courses should be considered. This issue is being presented to the Degree Works Steering Committee for discussion.

Major GPA Calculation
The calculation of the major GPA is determined by each individual academic unit. Please see an adviser within your major of study for clarification.
